About Kazakhstan








Kazakhstan is the second largest country to come out of the USSR. It is located south of Russia,west of China,and east of the Caspian Sea. The population is around 16 million.  It gained its independence in 1991. The largest city and former capital is Almaty, located near the Tien Shan Mountains at the foothills of the Himalayas.

The flag of Kazakhstan was officially adopted on June 4,1992. The blue field is said to symbolize the sky above the people.  A golden steppe eagle is represented beneath the shining sun,and a traditional national ornamentation is shown at left.
