Happy Belated Birthday to Me!

There are times when it’s really, really cool that other people enjoy your
birthday more than you do.  This was one of those times!  Since we were in Kaz
on my official birthday, I thought we’d just skip my whole birthday thing at
home this year.  Nope.  The Hunter family can celebrate a birthday to death.  We
usually have one party on the actual day of the birthday, another party on the
day when all the family members can get together, and depending on the year or
the situation, yet another one to fit in any friends and/or mere acquaintances
who might be wandering around looking for a good piece of birthday cake.  Having
said all that, my family didn't ignore or forget my birthday celebration; they
simply postponed it.

Tonight we had a birthday feast at Aunt Peg’s house.  Once a year (usually on my
birthday) Aunt Peg makes a full-blown German feast for me.  Some years my mother
just sits back and watches in amazement.  She says she’s never seen such a small
person put away that much sauerbraten, red cabbage, sauerkraut and kluski
noodles.  I think it’s probably a very, very good thing that Aunt Peg only does
this once a year because I always make myself sick.  That’s definitely not
anything to be bragging about, but I guess facts are just facts.  When it comes
to sauerbraten, I’m a little pig!

Anyway, my birthday party this year, aside from the feast, was an awful lot like
a baby shower thing.  Everybody said they couldn’t think of anything that I’d
want for me this year, so they got lots of stuff for the girls.  Boy, were they
right.  I couldn’t believe all the beautiful things the girls got.  I swear – my
kids are going to be the best dressed kids on the block… and at the rate we’re
going, possibly in the WORLD.  I’m so excited!

Of course, as much as I loved it, it made me miss the girls even more.
Everything would’ve been just great if they would’ve just let me bring them home
with me after this trip.  Yeah, yeah, yeah…. I know the rules, but you can’t
blame a Mommy for dreaming and wishing now, can you?

Anyway, here are some pictures of some of the outfits the girls got at my
birthday party/baby shower thing.  Aunt Amy got them both some of the most
beautiful outfits I’ve ever seen.  I’m particularly excited to see Ryn in that
little dress with the beret.  That’s going to be a hoot!  As for Maggie, I can
see her going crazy over the little corduroy skirt and denim vest set that Abbie
got her.  She’s going to be one seriously stylin’ 4-year-old!  Pick your outfit
– I can’t wait to see them in any of them!!  Of course, I can’t wait to see them
period.
