April 15, 2010

Well almost another day over here in Almaty Kazakhstan, the weather raining but very mild. I was hoping to take a walk with Oliver today but it was a little too wet. Oliver started his day on the late side waking up; he wakes up very happy full of smiles but very hungry. He found it hard to wait while I made his bottle, I really wonder what he is thinking, and he has to miss the baby house and everything that was familiar to him. Even though he is not showing it on the outside I am sure he is feeling it on the inside. After his bottle we played and read, or should I say chewed some books! Yesterday I had forgotten to buy something for breakfast so it was good old gold fish to the rescue. It is very hard not to be able to drive or walk to a store when you want or need something the simple things we take for granted.

Oliver is still sick with a cough and cold so I think he gets tired quicker. Anyway around quarter to 10 I put him in the ergo carrier and within 10 mins he was fast asleep. I have found he likes to suck his left thumb and rub a diaper cloth between his fingers. Makes me wonder why at the baby house they try to stop them from sucking their fingers and thumbs. You would think it would be easier all round anyway I have seen him sucking his thumb more the last day. I think he is a little stressed and this really calms him.

Tatyana stopped by and said she would go to the store for me, but I asked her if we could all go. She said it was a little wet so she stayed with Oliver and I went. I was so happy to go; sitting at home without my phone or friends is proving to be a little difficult. I was only gone about half an hour but it felt so good. Tatyana said they normally turn the heat off April 15th not this year the heat is pouring out here, oh well good for drying clothes.

Oliver slept almost 2.5 hours and woke up in a great mood ready to play. It will be so nice to get home and go for some nice walks with the dogs. I love to be outside in the spring.

We are all praying we are able to get Oliver’s passport from Astana today. Without it we are not able to go to the embassy until Monday. If it comes we are able to go tomorrow and be home Sunday afternoon. Please pray everything comes together. I miss Dominic and Isabel so much and cannot wait for us all to be under one roof at long last.
The cook is coming to bring dinner, I cannot wait. It really is impossible to go out alone. Tatyana would prefer I only go with her or the driver.

Cannot believe we will be home this time next week if not before. I cannot wait to see everybody and have them meet Oliver in person, although not all at once. Sorry, not much else to write, Ollie is sleeping so until tomorrow.  I will let you know if we get the passport, somebody is in Astana waiting now; we just have to hope a plane is coming to Almaty tonight, otherwise it will be Monday.
