I am so happy to be home, it really was a very long journey. First we flew from Almaty to Seoul, where we had a 12 hour lay over in an amazing airport. Our next leg of our journey home was hard. First the flight was 14 hours long, second we were not able to get bulk head so that made things a little more difficult, mainly for me because I was not able to eat or drink. Oliver slept 5 hours which sounds really great until you think he was still awake for the other 9, but really was so good but there is only so much you can do in a small space where most of the people are sleeping, but we both made it.

As the wheels touched down in JFK, Oliver became a US citizen. As we made our way to immigration, the lines were so long. After standing in one line for almost 20 mins, we were told to go to the visitor’s line where we then stood another 20 mins, we were asked to go to area 4. After about 15 mins I asked if someone was around to help us this guy said Oh he went on break and will be back in half an hour. By this time I am so tired and needing to find a bathroom, so off we went. When we came back, still nobody to help us, then this nice man asked how long we had been waiting and he said he would help us even though he shouldn't have.

So, then after getting our luggage and about one and a half hours later, we were free to find Dominic and Isabel. I cannot tell you how happy I was to see them. Oliver just smiled he biggest smile when he saw Isabel, it made her day!!! He fell asleep as soon as the car started and stayed asleep all the way home.

As we turned in to our street I saw a great home-made banner and balloons from the Browns and Jenna that was such a nice surprise. As we walked in our dogs were so happy to see me. I wish the same could be said for Oliver. I don't think he has ever seen a dog and this one was barking at him, so the first meeting was not so good, but I am pleased to say he got his 1st set of dog kisses today and just smiled, all good there.

Yesterday was a really good day in the morning we went to visit Carolyn who took the most amazing pictures of him. I was so tired but Ollie was being his happy self although today he is a little whiney. I think due to being awake from 1-3, it will take his body awhile to get on to US time, I took him to the doctors just for a check he had a cough and cold when I picked him up he is healthy and weighs almost 22 pounds. I cannot say he liked the doctors, he screamed the loudest I have ever heard. Not looking forward to next weeks visit.

Having Oliver home is different. I am normally an organized person. Somehow, with the lack of sleep I seem to be forgetting so many things and have been late several places. I am sure that will get better, I am trying to keep Oliver’s world as small as possible even though so many people want to visit, I am just doing and going where I have to so not to stress him out. He is sleeping now and seems to like his new life so far. I wonder what he is thinking or is he just taking it all in stride, not sure but time will tell.

After a long journey, to say we have completed our adoption sounds wonderful. No more fingerprints and trips to fed X, all we have to do is enjoy our son and that’s easy.
