No – really – I can do this… Can’t I?

Today was my first day at the baby house without ZhaZha Dae Dae.  He’s such a huge help with everything, and – to be honest – I was a little nervous about how well I’d handle having the girls on my own.  I know I’ve got to get used to it, but isn’t this all a little sudden??   Am I ready for this???  They’ve gotten so used to Mommy being the strict one and ZhaZha Dae Dae being the good guy – the one who gives them cookies even if they don’t say please, gives them extra juice even if it does mean ruining their lunch, picks up all the toys when they throw them in the floor, and teaches them important stuff like jumping in mud puddles and spitting off the swing set (how gross!)  You’ve got to give him points for consistency.  He’s the perfect, kid-spoiling uncle on both sides of the planet!!

Even without the fabulous ZhaZha Dae Dae we had a pretty good day.  Maggie-Vera has suddenly decided that she does like to cuddle and be held by Mommy after all.  Of course, it has to be on her terms, but at this point I’ll take them.  She walks up to me and puts her arms around my waist to be picked up.  I know the caregivers really frown on it (she’s a big girl and should be walking on her own!!), but I love it.  She even cuddled her head on my shoulder and kissed my cheek today.

Speaking of kisses, I didn’t get one from Ryn today but Sophie did!  She was looking through her photo album and when she came to the picture of Sophie she actually kissed the picture.  I’m not altogether sure how I feel about that.  Oddly, when she sees Sophie she does a completely different bark.  Unlike her “normal”, deep bark, when she looks at Sophie she does more of a soft, high-pitched bark.  I have no idea how she knows how different dogs bark different ways, but either way cracks me up.

Even though we did okay without ZhaZha Dae Dae today, the girls did miss him.  We spent a good bit of time looking out the window into the garden of the baby house, and any time a man would walk by they’d both get excited and start yelling “zha zha!!”  What??  Did I not give you enough cookies and juice today?  C’mon girls.  We can survive without him for one day, can’t we??  Ah, but I forgot.  ZhaZha Dae Dae is the eternal good guy.  Who can blame them for missing him when he’s not here?

This is my favorite picture for today.  It’s not great of either me or Ryn, but don’t you just love that smile on Maggie’s face?

Ooh yuck -- I've got sticky on my hands!
